Now that Chairman/CEO of Port Alberni, Timothy Pley has resigned and is no more an obstacle, will MP Gord Johns be able to convince the City of Port Alberni to repeal its policies that created and maintain mass homelessness in Port Alberni? https://www.facebook.com/bc.bifa
Gord Johns for Courtenay-Alberni 4D0egchamet9mber 3 2Sa4to s5:08o3mr4ed P5M · The Speaker only gave me a minute but that’s all I needed to remind the House of Commons that the Liberal/Conservative free-market approach to address the housing crisis through their coalition to protect the big banks and super wealthy hasn’t worked. In the early nineties, ten percent of our housing was non-market housing, now it is only four percent. In Europe, it is currently 30%. I believe we need massive investment in non-market housing including co-ops and affordable rental housing. The alternative is continued reliance on market housing and a legacy of thousands of homeless Canadians across the country Althouh Gord Johns knows solutions to Port Alberni's mass homeless crisis, Gord Johns refuses to organize the right people who can obtain and invest Port Alberni's share of Justin Trudeau's $56 billion and John Horgan's $6i.6 billion that they are providing to build housing for Canada's impoverished people.
