PORT MARIA'S 202 YEARS OLD COURT HOUSE

Black History Month 2023 we mark the 202 anniversary of Port Maria Court House. It is located opposite the Claude Stuart Park and the Port Maria Parish Church. This Georgian Architectural Design was originally built in 1821. Up until 1988 when it was badly damaged by fire, this marvelous Georgian Architectural structure housed Port Maria Courthouse and Port Maria Police Station. In 2000 with the strict guidance of the Urban Development Corporation and Jamaica National Heritage Trust, the 202 year old structure was restored to its former glary. Currently it Port Maria Civic Centre.   This precious relic was the first public building that was constructed in Port Maria. Prior to this building being built the Parish of St. Mary paid significant amounts of money in rent to operate Port Maria's public offices in private houses. PROVINCES WILL HAVE MORE MONEY FOR HEALTH CARE IF THEY END MASS HOMELESSNESS

Rather than squandering taxpayers money on temporary emergency shelter cots to maintain mass homelessness, that causes significant undue medical health and mental health problems, especially the epidemic of Staph Infections among destitute impoverished homeless people, the provinces should be investing taxpayers money in health care. For example, in Port Alberni, a small British Columbian city where Staph Infections are rampant, only 23 temporary emergency shelter cots created 57 middle income jobs. That does not include the service jobs that Port Alberni's mass homelessness was intended to create. Those 57 jobs are truly spinoff jobs. If the provinces allow destitute impoverished homeless people to return to reside in proper permanent housing, the provinces would have significantly less diseased feral people to put undue strain of the health care system, and more of taxpayers money to invest in health care.

AMAZON LAYED OFF 18,000 EMPLOYEES0

Image
During its first quarter of 2022 at 1.622 million employees Amazon reached the pinnacle of its hiring spree; in the second quarter of 2022, within three months Amazon's workforce dropped to 1.523 employees. In the third quarter of 2022 the number of employees at Amazon rose to 1.544. Therefore, the current lay-offs is strictly a continuation of Amazon's workforce fluctuation. It does not indicate the nearing of the end of Amazon as a massive employer, nor should it deter good workers from trying to have stable long term career at large companies such as Amazon.
