CANADA'S MOST DANGEROUS BACKROAD HIGHWAY

BAMFIELD HIGHWAY

Truly, it's an old logging road and the only over-land connection between Port Alberni and Bamfield. Banfield is a Vancouver Island west coast community. Winding through the mountains between Port Alberni and Bamfield without asphalt to protect her from the acne and crater face, and without smart satisfactodryi maintenance Bamfield highway is overused and neglected.

On September 16, 2019 due to lack of street lights and road disrepairs Bamfield highway was compelled to host the tragic ended the lives of two fresh students from the University of Victoria.

Without truck loads of gravel to fill in huge potholes and small gullies that are carved into Banfield highway, rolling a grader over it is wasteful, and does not constitute required repairs.

On Bamfield highway without sufficient drainage, ditches and culverts there are too many death traps. On the edge of Bamfield highway at too many spots on the cliffs there are death traps of road edge erosion. To mitigate the dangers there must be frequent targeted inspections, building and repairs of roadway retaining walls.

After decades of gross neglect of Bamfield highway between Port Alberni, Bamfield and Nitinat John Horgan's BC NDP Government are installing culverts, building bridges, and chip sealing her sur face.
