MOTHER CONCERNS FOR SON SENTENCED 20 YEARS IN PRISON

TWENTY YEARS SENTENCE

January 8, 2024

My son got sentenced to 15 years in prison. He is 20 years old. I don’t want him to feel depressed and give up. Is there anything I can do for him while he is in prison?

Ma’am, I say this with all due faith: you are a good person, but your son was sentenced to 15 years in prison, which means he broke the law. A bit of depression at having ended up there is to be expected. I suggest you focus on him getting training, education, and the help he needs to recover or get over the bad habits he has fostered that got him there. Fifteen years is not some joy ride; kids will be a kid's sentence.

Prison is not supposed to be fun; it is supposed to make it where you don't want to go back, so you straighten up and fly right. While I sympathize with your emotional plight, your son made his bed he will now have to lie in it for the things he did.

WHAT KIND OF NINCOMPOOP GIVES THIS ADVICE TO A MOTHER WHO NEEDS ADVICE ON HOW AND WHAT TO DO TO SUPPORT HER 20 YEAR OLD SON WHO IS INCARCERATED WITH A 20 YEARS SENTENCE TO SERVE

/The appropriate advice is to encourage frequent communications and direct support. Never to rely of prison system to provide proper and appropriate rehabilitation programs.

Acknowledge that there is no reintegration. Therefore, the mother must ensure that her son studies and obtain formal education independently of the prison system with special efforts to reintegrate himself upon his release by creating his own employment opportunities.

Always be mindful of the fact that society ias tough on criminals. Therefore, her son must be prepared to reintegrate himself with minimum to no reliance on society and his community. Be especially of the fact that employers who require the results of criminal record checks are employers who exclude criminals from legitimate employment. Practice intense perseverance. Think creatively to find alternatives to alternatives, and to replace the replacement with replacement.

Maintain a balanced lifestyle by exercising his mind as much as he exercises hid body.
